Furious 7 , the highest-grossing movie so far this year, is the latest over-the-top, explosion-filled, car-centric installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. The series' stunts have gotten progressively more spectacular — from fairly straightforward street racing to cars dragging a bank vault through the streets, to a tank bulldozing through a freeway full of vehicles, and now — in Furious 7 — cars dropping from a plane 10, feet in the air.

Lin made inside jokes about the continuity error in subsequent installments before finally linking the franchise back at the end of the sixth film. In the credits scene for Fast and Furious 6 , we see Han driving in a scene straight out of Tokyo Drift. It all came together.

In the film, Dominic Toretto , Brian O'Conner , and the rest of their team, who have returned to the United States to live normal lives after securing amnesty for their past crimes, until Deckard Shaw, a rogue special forces assassin seeking to avenge his comatose younger brother Owen Shaw, puts the team in danger once again. The film also marks the final film appearance of Paul Walker, who died in , and the film is dedicated to him. In April , Wan, predominantly known for horror films, was announced to direct the film. Casting began showing the returns of Diesel and Walker that same month. Principal photography began in September on Atlanta, and ended in July after resuming in April to allow Paul's brothers Caleb and Cody as stand-ins to complete his remaining scenes for the film, which was delayed to its current release date; with other filming locations including Los Angeles, Colorado, Abu Dhabi, and Tokyo.
